Acupuncture is a form of Chinese medicine that uses very thin needles placed at specific points on the body. It works with the body's natural processes to reduce pain, support healing, and help restore balance.
People seek acupuncture for many different reasons—from pain, headaches, and injuries to stress, sleep, digestion, fatigue, and overall wellbeing. Because Chinese medicine looks at patterns throughout the whole person, treatment can often address several concerns at the same time. Not sure if acupuncture is right for you? Just ask! Feel free to call, text, or email with any questions.
Acupuncture generally is very relaxing and calming. Most patients doze off or take a nap during their treatment. When the needles are first inserted it’s common to feel a slight poke, sting, or ache but often times you feel nothing at all.
Chinese medicine looks at the whole person rather than symptoms in isolation. Things like pain, sleep, digestion, energy, stress, and emotions can all be connected. By understanding those patterns, treatment aims to restore balance and help your body function at its best.
Treatment frequency depends on what we're working on and how your body responds. In China, it's common for patients to receive acupuncture on consecutive days, particularly when addressing an acute problem. That's not practical for most of us, but initially coming 2–3 times a week can often be the most helpful. We'll adjust the frequency as you improve.
This depends on the condition, its severity, and how long it's been going on. Acute problems may respond relatively quickly, while long-standing or complex conditions often require more time and consistency. We'll talk about how you're responding as treatment progresses and adjust your treatment plan accordingly.
